Edmirica Whitney Oldham

Former Logan Woman is Dead— Friends here have been notified of the death in Salt Lake City of Mrs. Edmer Whitney Oldham, wife of Dr. Ernest P. Oldham. Death occurred as a result of influenza and heart trouble at the family residence, 1145 Fifteenth East Street. Mr. and Mrs. Oldham and their family formerly resided at 139 East First North in Logan. Mrs. Oldham was born December 6th, 1879 at Mendon, a daughter of John K. and Ann Longstroth Whitney. She was married in September 1904. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Dr. Ernest W. Oldham, Coalville and Rulon S. Oldham, Salt Lake City, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Lou Jones, Mesa, Arizona, and Mrs. Mary Hetzler, Charleston, West Virginia; two brothers, James F. Whitney, Salt Lake City; Herbert B. Whitney, Mendon, and three sisters, Mrs. Annie Saunders, Salt Lake; Mrs. Marion W. Dunn, Brigham City and Mrs. Luella Kimball, Salt Lake City. Ernest Price Oldham

Death Claims Dr. Oldham, Physician Dies in Coalville at 62, Coalville— Dr. Ernest Price Oldham, 62 widely known physician in northern Utah and southern Idaho, died here early Wednesday at the home of a son, Dr. Ernest W. Oldham. Dr. Oldham was born in Paradise, Utah, November 21st, 1875, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Oldham. He was a graduate of Brigham Young University at Provo and Northwestern University medical school at Evanston, Illinois. He practiced medicine in Oakley, Twin Falls and Burley, Idaho, and Logan at various times until 1926, when he went to Salt Lake City. He was active in social and charity work in Salt Lake City, having been a member of the Salt Lake County Medical Society. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J.F. Jones, of Huntington; Mrs. C.R. Hetzler, of Flint, Michigan; two sons Dr. Oldham, of Coalville , and Rulon E. Oldham, of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; four brothers, Lloyd P. Oldham, Jerome, Idaho; Edward P. Oldham and Russell Oldham, both of Paradise, and W.B. Oldham, Hibbard, Idaho; six sisters, Mrs. Jane Pearce, Paradise; Mrs. Minnie Biggs, Preston, Idaho; Mrs. Ethan Allen, Providence, and Mable, Dehlia and Bernice Oldham, all of Logan. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at one p.m. in the Paradise L.D.S. ward chapel. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. ~Tribune Intermountain Service, no date.


Rulon Samuel Oldham ~ Veteran WW II

Former Utahan is Lost at Sea— Rulon S. Oldham, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Ernest P. Oldham, former Logan residents, lost his life last week when he was washed overboard while sailing his yacht from San Diego to San Francisco, California. Memorial services were held for him Sunday in Los Angeles. Mr. Oldham, who was 28 years old, was sailing his boat to San Francisco, where he was to have taken a position with the U.S. Navy. Rough waters were encountered on the trip, and Mr. Oldham was washed overboard. He had lived in Salt Lake City several years before going to California, and in the spring of 1932 was marooned along with a companion on an island in Salt Lake for seventeen hours after their sailboat floundered in a squall. ~The Herald Journal, April 1st, 1942, page 1.


Chad Ray Olsen

Young Ward, Utah— Chad Ray Olsen, 43 passed away Saturday, May 12th, 2001 at the home of his brother in Young Ward. He was born in Logan, Utah, March 27th, 1958 to Robert N. and Marie Nielsen Olsen. Chad was raised in Young Ward where he lived his whole life until the time of his death. He attended Cache County Schools where he was active in football and music. He graduated from Sky View High School in 1976. He served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1979 to 1981 in Toulouse, France. On the return from his mission he attended Utah State University and was a member of the Sounds of Zion at the L.D.S. institute. While in this group and singing with a barbershop quartet he met and married Melodee Snow. They were married June 22nd, 1984, in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. They were blessed with four wonderful and talented children, Elizabeth Ann, fifteen, Jacob Robert, thirteen, Forrest James, eleven and Chelsee, nine. Chad loved his family and spent every spare moment he had coaching them on their ball teams, taking them fishing and being the best hand-on dad he could be. Chad left a legacy to his children that they were loved by him and will always be loved by him. Chad was a butcher by trade and a fisherman by heart. He had owned and operated his own butcher shop, worked at other butcher shops in the area and at the time of his death was employed by Smith's. He was a skillful and crafted meat cutter and could always sell you a great piece of meat. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and had held many positions throughout his life. He was a high priest at the time of his death. Chad had a personal love and relationship with his savior with whom he knew he would be with on Saturday. He is survived by his wife and children; his parents; two brothers and one sister: Mark (Luci), Pat (Jerry), all of Young Ward, Utah, and Mike (Helen) of Bountiful, Utah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved him and especially Mindie and Brandi who spent countless hours in their home. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, May 15th, 2001 in the College-Young Ward Chapel, 2394 West 2200 South with Bishop Kevin Olsen conducting. friends may call from six to eight p.m. Monday evening, May 14th, 2001 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and from ten until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church. Interment will be in the Mendon City Cemetery. Friends may make contributions to a fund for the education of his children. Dax Jay Olsen

Petersboro, Utah— Dax Jay Olsen, 18 returned to our Heavenly Father on August 18th, 2000, from injuries sustained in a moped accident. Dax was born February 16th, 1982, in Logan, Utah, to Jay G. and Tammie J. Olsen. When he was three, his family moved to Petersboro, Utah, where he enjoyed growing up. As a youth he played soccer, baseball and basketball. He made All-Star teams in baseball and soccer. He enjoyed many games. In high school, Dax played golf for three years for the Mountain Crest team. He developed a great love for the coaches and players for those years. His final match was winning the championship in the B flight at Logan River Golf Course this year. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received many awards; his latest was his Eagle Scout Award. He graduated from Mountain Crest High School in the year 2000. He was registered to attend Utah State fall semester. He was preparing to serve an L.D.S. mission. Dax enjoyed his friends, golf, skiing, snowmobiling, derby cars and his family. Dax is survived by his parents, Jay and Tammie Olsen; a brother, Chet Glen, all of Petersboro; his grandparents, Blaine and Marie Olsen of Providence, Utah, and Ray and Hattie Jensen of Neola, Utah. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him. Dax was loved by many. We love you and we miss you. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Maxine Anderson. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 22nd, in the Mendon Ward Chapel, 20 North 100 West in Mendon. A viewing will be held from six to eight p.m. on Monday, August 21, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the ward chapel. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery. ~Newspaper Not Listed.
