Therese Lallis Bird— is thought to be the Mendon May Queen for this year.
Mendon, May 5th– May Day although bitterly cold, proved to be one of the most sucessful celebrations of the kind held in Mendon for many years. At nine o'clock the band struck up a lively tune and people began to gather on the square. The maids and their escorts formed a procession and marched to the residence of the Queen and escorted her Majesty to the square, where the maypole danccers and scores of people awiated them. The queen was crowned and then twelve little girls danced around the maypole. Not one false step was taken by the little girls while they danced and wound the ribbons around the pole. Then the procession marched to the meeting house, which had been prevously decorated for the soccasion, where the following program was rendered:
The Queen and her maids and escorts with the band marched to the residence of the queen where a fine dinner was partaken of.1
