Mother Sorensen was born into a family of twelve children- a hard working farmer father and a wonderful mother who was a great helpmate to grandfather Ladle and a fabulous housekeeper and a gem of a mother, possess of much patience and love for her family.

Mother Sorensen attended the Mendon City public school through the 8th grade. When in her teens, she lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her brother John Ladle. She worked for the jailor's family as a housekeeper in the residence at the county jail in Salt Lake.

She and grandpa (Joseph C.) Sorensen were married in the Logan temple. Five children graced their home- two girls and three boys. Their home was the old Alex Buist house, which they rented for seven years. Their present home was built in 1914.

Mother Sorensen loved the home and family. She was a super-fine cook, an immaculate housekeeper and always made friends and family alike most welcome. She loved her china collection. She always appeared so fresh, crisp and newly ironed, and clean and smiling.

One of her special talents was singing. She sang duets with Charlotte B. Richards in the L.D.S. Primary meetings frequently. Other talents include quilting (for which she was famous) crocheting and sewing. She was a teacher in the Primary for a number of years. Also in the Relief Society she was the librarian for sixteen years from February 10th, 1931, to November 9th, 1947; and served as a visiting teacher in the same organization for seventeen years.

A lovely display of potted plants always graced her home and she was possessed with very much know how in regards to growth habits.

She traveled some with her family and had great enjoyment in the closeness of family. D.M. Bickmore of Hyrum, Utah, and Allan Willie of Mendon, Utah, were two very respected friends. Charlotte B. Richards was also a special friend. Some fine qualities characterized her personality- she prided herself on keeping calm, not allowing herself to become vexed and not being critical. She was soft spoken and sincere.

She was afflicted with a goiter condition (on her neck) and much of her later life, high blood pressure and a serious heart condition plagued her. A heart attack and stroke took her life in her own home.
