Ira Ames was a very early (1859) settler of Mendon, Utah, and was known as a great fiddler, with his violin services being much needed in the early times of Cache Valley for the purpose of entertainment. He seems to have been so good at his musical craft, as to have Wellsville entice to steal him away from Mendon by the summer of 1860. ~Rod
